What's Happening in Northern Nevada: November's Second Week

Published November 2, 2026  ·  By Dennis Lindsay
A quiet Northern Nevada main street on a crisp November morning, golden cottonwood leaves on the sidewalk, string lights on the street lamps, and early snow on the Sierra behind the rooftops.

This is the latest in our weekly roundup of what's happening in Northern Nevada, written to show California transplants what life actually looks like after the move. Every event below was verified with its name, date, and location on this run. The week of November 9 through 15 is Veterans Day week, and it is also a genuinely stacked music week: a big-screen concert in Reno, Soft Cell at the Grand Sierra, an Americana night in Minden, blues-rock in Carson City, and a Sunday metal circus downtown.

Wednesday, November 11: Two Ways to Honor Veterans Day

The day starts early in Carson City with the Veterans Day Fun Run at Riverview Park, 600 Marsh Rd: check-in at 8 a.m., a veteran tribute around 8:45, the 5K at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run at 9:15, hosted by Carson High Safe Grad. Then head north for Nevada's official salute: the Reno Veterans Day Parade steps off at 11:11 a.m., with the opening ceremony at the Virginia Street Bridge and the parade heading north on Virginia Street from Liberty to 6th Street. It is a moving way to spend the morning, and it is one of those civic days that reminds you how much this region rallies around its people. More of what makes the capital tick lives in our Carson City guide.

Reno: A Stacked Concert Week

Reno's stages are busy all week. Wednesday, November 11 at 8 p.m., Outlander in Concert brings the series' sweeping score to the Grand Sierra Resort with the film on the big screen. Friday, November 13 at 8 p.m., synth-pop pioneers Soft Cell play the Grand Sierra Theatre. Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, ORSO Philharmonic performs at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. And if your taste runs louder, GWAR brings its theatrical metal circus to Cargo at the Whitney Peak Hotel, 255 N Virginia St, on Sunday, November 15 starting at 6 p.m., with Midnight, Mac Sabbath, and Atomic Rule along for the ride. Not a quiet night, and not one to bring the kids to. Planning a weekend in the Biggest Little City? Start with our Reno guide.

The Carson Valley: Wolf Jett at CVIC Hall

Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m., the Carson Valley Arts Council concert series brings Wolf Jett to CVIC Hall in Minden for a Friday evening of live music, the kind of low-key, close-up show the Valley does so well. It is a nice reminder that you do not have to drive to Reno for a night out. Curious about the Valley towns behind the show? Our Gardnerville and Minden guide walks through them.

Carson City: Blues-Rock at the Nashville Social Club

Saturday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m., guitarist Greg Koch and the Koch Marshall Trio play the Nashville Social Club in Carson City, an evening of blues-rock in one of the capital's favorite music rooms. It pairs well with a slow Saturday downtown. New here? Our Carson City neighborhoods guide and the city overview are both good places to start.

On the Horizon: Hockey at the Lake and the Holidays Coming Fast

Two dates are worth penciling in now. The Tahoe Knight Monsters return to the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline for a three-game home stand against the New Mexico Goatheads: a 10:30 a.m. education matinee Thursday, November 19, a 7 p.m. Friday night game November 20, and a Saturday game November 21. Lake town living has its own rhythm, and the Lake Tahoe area guide covers the communities behind the fun. And the holiday calendar is already taking shape: the Gardnerville Christmas Kickoff is December 3, Sparks Hometowne Christmas runs December 4-5, and Dayton's Small Town Christmas is December 5. The full season's calendar, verified week by week, lives on the Northern Nevada events page.

Welcoming You Like a Neighbor

That is the second week of November here: a Veterans Day morning in Carson City and Reno, four nights of music across the region, and the holiday calendar quietly filling up. If you are researching the move from California, this is the rhythm you would be buying into, and I would love to help you find where you fit. From the events page you can wander the community guide, request personalized home options by area, or just reach out and we can talk it over on the phone.
